As every year, the final Saturday of Islay's famous Fèis Ìle festival marks the release of Ardbeg's latest limited edition. This year, the spotlight is on Ardbeg Dolce, an expression that builds a bridge between two remarkable islands.
On one side is Islay, windswept, sea-sprayed and shaped by the Atlantic. On the other is Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, lying just off the toe of Italy's boot, where a warm Mediterranean climate provides abundant sunshine throughout the year.
Ardbeg Dolce is crafted from a marriage of whiskies matured in two different types of casks: Sicilian Marsala wine casks and American oak ex-bourbon barrels. This dual maturation creates a harmonious balance between Ardbeg's signature Islay peat smoke and the rich, fruity character imparted by the Marsala casks.
The result is a whisky that beautifully balances sweet notes of apricot, marmalade and dark chocolate with flavours of toasted nuts and smoked applewood, offering a rich and distinctive tasting experience.
