Balvenie 12 years The Sweet Toast Of American Oak tells the story of Kelsey McKechnie, Malt Master in training at Balvenie. She came up with the idea of heavily blackening virgin oak casks from Kentucky, then filling them with Balvenie whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks.

The combination of virgin oak and ex-bourbon leads to a delicate yet complex whisky with notes of sugared candy, coconut and soft vanilla. Furthermore, soft influences of malt, citrus, oak, spices and brown sugar can be noted.
